VISION NETWORK NEWS - The Whole Word to the Whole World

 Dear Vision Family,

 July is Hot, Hot, Hot…except where it is cold, cold, cold…

At least in the Midwest and the Northeast United States, and it is even hotter in Kuwait, and quite cold in Australia…but that is just the weather, and whether cold or hot, all around the world, men and women of God are preaching and teaching, raising up the next generation of leaders through the programs of Vision. What a joy to be a part of the continued expansion of the Kingdom of God around the world.

I am delighted to feature the ministry of our good friend and partner in teaching ministry, almost Dr. Harold Eberle. Harold has planted numerous bible colleges in Africa, using much of the Vision materials, and now is focused on Pakistan and the Islamic world. He is an internationally recognized teacher and writer. Compassionate Capitalism is a Judeo-Christian Value.

That is why I wrote a book with this title.

Through my studies, I learned how capitalism first developed as God worked among the Hebrews in Old Testament times. God mentored Abraham and his descendants to be the head and not the tail. God founded their economic system in land ownership, the Ten Commandments, and the passing on of inheritances. Each of these foundations has had a profound impact upon our economic system today.

The early Church held to the Hebrew economic system. Modern Christians often miss this. They read how the early disciples sold all of their possessions and gave the proceeds away. Modern Christians sometimes conclude from this report that the early Christians were socialistic. A closer look reveals something very different. In Acts 2:45, where we are told that they sold their possessions, it actually says they "began selling their possessions." They didn't sell "all" of their possessions. In fact, the very next verse (Acts 2:46) tells us that they kept meeting from house to house. They still had houses.

It is true that God stirred a love in the early disciples so great that they shared with each other. However, we must not miss the fact that those first disciples were living as capitalists who accumulated wealth, including homes for themselves and extra homes. Plus they could freely sell their homes and use the proceeds as they desired.

We also need to understand the actions of those first disciples in their historical context. During those early years they were heavily persecuted and many of them driven out of Jerusalem. Worse yet, Jerusalem was completely destroyed in 70 AD., so they were all going to lose their homes anyway. In other words, the Holy Spirit inspired them to sell their houses right before the bottom dropped out of the market.

There are many similar insights that can revolutionize your understanding of capitalism and how God wants us to live as compassionate capitalists. I could go on explaining, but then you would have no reason to get my book.

An Apostolic Strategy

Recently, Morris M... Yeedoun, MA who is the regional director of West and Francophone Africa Vision International Education Network wrote:

Shalom!  It is with great joy that we would like to officially inform you about the use of your curriculum in the West and Francophone Africa to train our rural pastor for ministry.

During the Vision International Education Network West and Francophone Africa Leadership Summit, we had a discussion with Dr. Steven Mills (our World Zone Leader for Africa) on the possibility of using the curriculum from the three institutions for training Pastors and Leaders from rural areas in Cote d'Ivoire (Ivory Coast).  This was a great joy to us because most of those we want to reach may not be in the position financially or materially to meet Vision's criteria for enrolling into the university program presently offered in the country.  We are grateful to God for your willingness through Dr. Mills to have given us the go ahead to start. 

 The Plan Is Being Implemented In Our Nation

Immediately after Dr. Mills' departure, we began the planning process.  Included in this planning were Pastors (Apostle Bakassa-Traore, Rev. Bigot, and Reverend Kramo) who also have a vision for the training of Pastors for the work of the ministry; a work which we believe is our God given duty.  As a result of this meeting we concluded that we needed to do a Trainers Training for Pastors working in the areas affected by the post electoral crisis (war) which led to the death of more than three thousand people with more than three hundred thousand crossing into other nations as refugees. 

 The First Training Is to Begin in August 20th – 31st of 2012

We have received thirty-three names (officially) for the first trainers training program from more than 20 different churches and denominations across the nation.  Most of these people are from areas affected by the crisis.  We have divided the training into a two year program which will be done between 2012 and 2013.  We will train this first set of Pastors as leaders to go into the field and train others in their different localities.  Some will be opening indigenous schools in their villages to train local leaders in their local dialects.  Praise God for their willingness to do the work.  Please keep us in your prayers.

 Where will the Training Take Place?

It will be done at the regional office of Vision International Education Network in Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire (Ivory Coast).  Everyone will come for two weeks of intensive training during which time they will go through five courses (morning and evening sessions).  We are praying for the financial resources to pay for the printing of the five books for each of them, as some may not have the means to pay for the cost of photocopying the books. 

 We are grateful to God and to your ministries for allowing us to use your materials to train leaders in West and Francophone Africa.  This training will go a long way to bring many to the Kingdom who you may never meet in your life, but through your materials you will be impacting something good into their lives and families. 

 Prayer Focus:

  •   Pray along with us for the printing of the materials which will cost about 660, 000 Fcfa ($1320).
  •  The Finances to feed these pastors for two weeks while they attend training in the regional office and for other bills that will be incurred which will amount to 1,350,000 Fcfa ($3,700.00).
  •  Pray along with us for safe travel for all those coming from the various cities and villages.
  • Pray for our good health and strength as we teach for two weeks.
  •  Pray for God's protection for all those who will be leaving their families and churches to come for the training as some of the areas they are from are still in danger zones and insecure.
  • Pray for the success of this ministry training program.

Around the Network

As this is being written, Dr. John and Iris Delgado are in Singapore, conducting a conference based upon Iris' book. Dr. Steve leaves tomorrow for Kuwait, as Dr Tim and Laurie Dailey plan their vacation back here in the States. Dr Denis Plant just returned from a successful time in South Africa, where we continue to move forward towards accreditation, and in early August I start five months of overseas ministry, first in South Africa in August, South Korea in September, Ukraine and India in October (you will hear more about how you can help with this unsupported trip) November in Malaysia and Kuwait, and December in Lebanon…then Australia. Please keep our whole network and all our leaders in prayer as we move forward, taking the whole word to the whole world.

 Of Course, We Still Need Your Support

 

In many ways I can relate to Gideon. In Judges 6:11-8:27, when told by the Angel (Jesus) of the Lord… "The Lord is with you, O valiant warrior" he obviously thought, "Who me?"

 300 Can Accomplish the Overwhelming Task

 He was overwhelmed. The task given to him seemed overwhelming. In similar ways I sometimes feel overwhelmed by the mandate to take The Whole Word to the Whole World. But Gideon made his choice to follow God's call and bring blessing and deliverance to his generation. We at Vision (specifically Vision International Education Network (VIEN)) have made our choice to do the same, to take The Whole Word to the Whole World. It is a challenging choice, because we are both a university and a mission's ministry, and recognize the need to equip the next generation of national ministers. Of course I am not alone. But by the grace of God I know it is possible with His selected staff, World Zone leaders, and financial partners. 

 God knew that 300 were enough to accomplish the task assigned to Gideon. And in Vision's case, 300 committed donors, giving $100.00 per month, would completely underwrite Vision International Education Network (VIEN), providing for us the resources to plant another 1000 Resource Centers and thousands of churches with those trained leaders.

 The need for discipleship ministry in the nations remains crucial. The need is not being met by Christian Television or city wide crusades, but only by relational evangelism and discipleship, which is offered through VIEN and its partners. We have the tools and system to meet the need.

 Our prophetic word, taking the whole word to the whole world, is based upon the word from Habakkuk 2:14 "…for the earth will be covered by the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea". We have a mandate, and our apostolic methodology, a system of education that helps fulfill this prophetic mandate, is tested and working.  

 Our Dedicated Partners and Leaders

 We are honored to work with many dedicated leaders around the world who sacrifice greatly for the Lord and this work. They deserve resources to fulfill their mandate. And part of my dream, what motivates me every day, is the knowledge that these dynamic leaders could do so much more if we resourced them, as they deserve to implement our three-part ministry of Teaching, Restoring and Releasing men and women into their destinies.

 Over the past few years, we have worked exceedingly hard, perfecting our curriculum, course delivery systems, administrative systems etc. From the feed-back we receive from around the world, our flexible educational program is working. Let me share with you a couple of examples:

 On any given weekend, teachers, mostly trained by Vision courses and teachers, take buses and trains from their home towns to over 40 areas of Ukraine and Russia. With over 35 students in each site, on average, studying one course per month, God is raising up hundreds of leaders, who pay 95% less than the average U.S. student.  This is very cost-effective! We are actively helping to change a generation by planting churches and establishing more teaching and counseling centers throughout the former Soviet Union. Training these 1800 students, who pay less than $10.00 per course, however, does not pay our bills. That is why we need Vision's very own "Gideon's 300", to help us fully support the work of God for these two nations, and many others.

 All throughout Africa, from Kenya to Ghana to South Africa, leaders in our Resource Centers, training in English and French, gather students in churches, rented buildings, and under trees, to teach them the principles of the word of God and church planting. Most of the teachers are Vision graduates, who print out the books, study guides and exams for the students from our patented Bible College in A Box (t) CD. Tuition is stratified to the economy of the nation, but with the support of God's people like you, we are able to provide curriculum, support and leadership seminars to lift up the hands of God's leaders throughout Africa, and in 150 nations of the world. We will be able to do so much more when we are fully resourced by Vision's "Gideon's 300�! �!

 Our Committed Givers

 We currently have 40 + committed givers at present, sacrificially investing $100/month, which is a great start. But, we need 260 more to fully fund our international office and allow us to create and expand our leadership training and church planting to thousands around the world. I realize that this is no small task. But I know, with God's help and yours, it will be accomplished.

 So, please pray and decide if God is calling you to be one of our "Gideon's 300".  In Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr's famous speech, he begins with the phrase, and repeats it many times, "I have a dream". Well, I cannot help but dream a dream…of Vision Resource Centers in key nations, where our directors can work from to take the word of God to other nations, and coordinate our Leadership seminars. I have a dream of all our major books in English being translated into the major languages of the world, and being used to equip even more men and women for ministry. I have a dream…and I hope and pray, as the Holy Spirit leads you, that you will indeed be a part of our "Gideon 300" for Vision, and embrace this dream. Let's fulfill it together. Thank you!
